CLAIM SETTLED.
A compromise settlement of a widow's claim for damages in respect to her husband's death by accident was agreed to by Mr. Juetice Fair in the "Supreme Court to-day in re Nancy Emily Jean Duncan, the widow of Frederick William Duncan, a painter, who died after Jiijury when struck bv a motor car at Onehunga in December last
Mr. Lovegrove said the sum of £1850 «*d £50 cost* had been paid in Court and jt was proposed that £500 of this amount be set apart for the benefit of th« child, now aged seven months, which was born after the fathers death. This arrangement was agreed to bv Mr. Burt, appearing for the child's guardian, and an order was made accordingly.
A deep cut in the left leg was suffered by Mi»s D. B. Peterson, an employee of Alexander Harvey and Sons. Ltd., tin manufacturers, when a pile of tins slipped and fell on her about midday to-day. She was admitted to the Auckland Hospital.
