CAUSE OF FIRE.
"THOROUGH INQUIRY."
COMMENT BY MR. FRASER.
WELLINGTON, this day.
"The matter will be thoroughly investigated, said the Prime Miuieter, the Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, in commenting on the Waiouru fire, "and no effort will be spared to discover the cause of the fire. If anything in the nature of sabotage is proved those responsible will be dealt with in the most rigorous fashion.
"I suspend any judgment in the case until the facts have been thoroughly investigated and the inquiry, which ie already under way and which will be carried out in the most efficient manner, is completed. Obviously the loss of the building will lie a handicap, but steps will be taken immediately to replace it. There will be no delay whatever. Such adverse happenings will not be allowed to interfere to any considerable extent with New Zealand's war effort."—(Parliamentary Reporter).
