OLD NEWSPAPER.
AUCKLAND PUBLICATION. DISCOVERY AT NAPIER. XAPIER, this day. One of the first copies of one of Auckland's earliest newspaper* —a journal which does not even survive by figuring as "incorporated" in any of Auckland's existing publications, has come to light with the sale of a Xepier property and the turning out of its cupboards preliminary to the departure of its former owners. The paper ie "The New Zealander," and the copy in question is out] of the thirtieth issue, dated December 37, 1845. It is well-preserved, and all parts of its four pages are easily legible. Almost the whole of the front page ofj the advertisements consists of intornia-| tion regarding shipping and the sales of| produce. "Van Diemen's Land Flour" , is widely advertised. Xearly a third of; the reeding matter consists of a report' of a. Commons debate on the Colony.' with members hotly criticising the New' Zealand Company. * I
