POWER DEVELOPMENT
WORK AT ARAPUNI. ADDITIONAL TURBINES. PUTARURU, this day.' Work on the installation of two additional turbines at Arapuni, which was suspended two months ago on account of the shortage of. steel, is to be resumed before the end of the month. The six turbines at present operating at Arapuni are working at full pressure to meet the growing demand for electricity, and the installation of the additional turbines will ease the position.
When the work was suspended owing to the impossibility of obtaining steel for lining the penstock tunnels, the tunnele had been pierced between the water race and the power-house and the penstock gates placed in position.
