FINAL LEAVE.

SOLDIERS' FARES. WELLINGTON, this day. The Minister of Railways was asked by Mr. Bodkin (National, Otago Central) in the House of Representatives yesterday whether it is the policy of the Government to demand payment from soldiers on final leave who travel by the Limited express. He stated that although these men were given unconditional passes, they were charged for travelling on this express, and those who refused to pay had been informed that the money would be deducted from their military pay.

As the question was placed on the Order Paper, no reply was given by the Minister at the time.—(Parliamentary Reporter.)
