LICENSE RENEWALS.

STREAM OF APPLICANTS.

Under a recently introduced traffic regulation it -is compulsory for any person who has not renewed his driving license within three months of the date of its expiry to pass a practical driving test before being granted a new license. The' last day of this period will fall next Saturday. That Auckland motorists have made a sowewhat belated discovery of the fact is shown, by the steady stream of applicants who have called at the city traffic department during the last few days. In view of this, the traffic department has decided to depart from its usual custom and will be open on Saturday morning to deal with applications for renewal. The regulation has been introduced, according to the Hon. R. Semple, Minister of Transport, to protect the public from drivers who have grown incompetent through lack of practice.
