SECRET SITTING.
THE WAR SITUATION. PARLIAMENT IN SESSION. WELLINGTON, this day. For the third time during the present session of Parliament, the House of Representatives held a secret sitting yesterday. Consideration of formal business occupied some five or six minutes after the House met at 2.30. Then the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraeer, drew attention to the "presence of strangers in the galleries." A formal resolution was passed that strangers be ordered to withdraw, and the remainder of the afternoon and evening was occupied by secret business. The following official report was issued by the Speaker when the House rose about midnight:— "The Prime Minister reviewed developments in the international situation since the House last met in secret session. The Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, then outlined what had been done to strengthen home defences and to train men for service at home and overseas. The supply situation in New Zealand and possible sources of supply abroad were dealt with by the Minister of Supply, the Hon. D. <i. Sullivan. The work of the War Cabinet and problems being faced were discussed by the Hon. A. Hamilton and the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates." There were 15 other speakers. The Houee rote at 12.20 a.m. until 10.30 a.m. to-day.—(Press Assn.)
