THREE INJURED.
FIRE AT COLLIERY. ONE MAN SEVERELY BURNED. HUNTLY, this day. Three men were injured, one being severely burned, when a fire broke out in the Taupiri Coal Company's colliery, at Rotowaro, early yesterday afternoon. A brick and mortar wall wae erected to check the fire and the work was nearly finished when an explosion occurred and the wall collapsed. The. injured men were Messrs. James Lancaster, Evan Bryant' and George Peel, of Huntly. Mr. Lancaster was severely bruised and burned, and Mr. Bryant was ateo injured and burned, but less seriously. Mr. Peel received minor injuries. Messrs. Lancaster and Bryant were taken to the Waikato Hospital, and Mr. Peel wae able to return to his home. The work of sealing the burning portion was renewed under the direction of the superintendent, Mr. J. Wateon, and wae completed early in the evening. Work was carried on ae usual to-day.
