THEFT OF CIGARETTES.

TAIHAPE, Thursday. After a thief had broken into a locker in the Taihape Men's Club and stolen a quantity of cigarettes he was pursued through the streets of Taihape by six members of the club, who eventually captured him. In the Taihape Police Court to-day Patrick William Crampton, a carpenter, of Waiouru, pleaded guilty to the theft of the cigarettes. He was sentenced to two months' imprisonment. — (Press Aean.)
