SOLDIERS' HOSTEL.

LORD GAL WAT'S VISIT. Congratulations were extended to representatives of the Auckland Metropolitan Patriotic Committee and the Auckland Commercial Travellers' Association on the success of the Carrie Hostel for men of the armed services spending leave in the city, by the Governor-General, Lord Galway, when he paid a visit to the institution yesterday afternoon. His Excellency, who was attended by Captain Lord Dormer, A.D.C., was accompanied by the Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis, and the chairman of the Patriotic Committee, Mr. J. A. C. Allum. Lieutenant-Colonel T. H. Dawson, executive members of the Commercial Travellers' Association and the hon. manager, Major N. J. Lcvien, met the Governor on his arrival.
