TWELVE TEAMS COMPETING. MT. ALBERT FAILS AGAINST 1939 CHAMPION XI. Although designated a Dominion tourney no South Island side Is compering in the secondary schools' hockey tournament, which opened yesterday afternoon at Iteiuucrn with an entry of a dozen teams. The lirst round results were:— SECTIOX A. Auckland Grammar A 7, beat Hamilton High 1. l'almerston North High 10. beat Seddon Memorial Technical College I. Gisbome High T, beat Wellington Technical College 1. SECTION B. Stratford Technical Ilieh UW9 championi 2, beat Mount Albert Grammar O. Wellington College 10, be.it Wairnrapa College 1. Ilowiek District High 0, beat Auckland Grammar B 1. Two rounds were scheduled for to-day. and one each to-morrow and Thursday mornings. The afternoon of the lastnamed day is reserved for any section plavoff and the final is staged for FridaV morning.
