SEVEN MILLION CATALOGUES.
With the present issue of "Yates' Annual for 1940," just published. Messrs. A. \ates and Company have completed 300 editions of their garden catalogue. This is equivalent to seven million copies, which through successive years have acted as guides and inspirations to New Zealand gardeners.
Tn their preface to the present issue, the publishers mention "difficulties with certain seed supplies which normally are grown in countries now in the hands of the enemy," but despite wartime disabilities Messrs. Yates announce their policy of "doing everything to eusure a healthy and vigorous continuance of Xew Zealaiul horticulture."
The catalogue, comprising SO pages and a beautifully-printed coloured cover, exemplifies this policy with a multitudinous array of new floral varieties, old garden favourites, and essential products of home and farm gardens.
Every 'feature of gardening is also illustrated with details of tested fertilisers, necessary implements and suggestions for the control of pests. Illustrated on every page and full of informative descriptions of the attractions and value of all plants and flowers listed, Messrs. Yates' "Annual for 1940" is sure to be as appreciated bv all gardeners. •
The catalogue was printed by the commercial printing department of the "Auckland Star" office.
