Hidden In Apparently Empty Dublin Shop. DETECTIVE KILLED. (Reed. 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 18. Five special branch detective* who raided an apparently empty shop in Dublin encountered machine-gun and revolver fire. One detective was killed and two were critically wounded. A search of the shop revealed a large radio-transmitting station and supplies of revolver ammunition. Two men were arrested. £3,000,000 FOR 'PLANES. British Official Wireleee. (Reed. 2 p.m.) RUGBY, Aug. 18. The Minister for Aircraft Production, Lord Beaverbrook, announces that voluntary gifts now received from the public for the purchase of aircraft amount to over £3,000,000.
