DEATH OF MINER.

THE WAINGARO FATALITY. ACCIDENTAL DROWNING. HAMILTON, Tuesday. The body of Mr. William Darbyshire, aged 54, a miner employed at Glen Afton, who was drowned near Waingaro early yesterday morning, was recovered yesterday afternoon. An inquest was held before the Huntly coroner, Mr. F. Harris, at Waingaro, and a verdict was returned that Mr. Darbyshire's death was purely accidental. Dudley Lylian, electrician, Glen Afton, said that he and his wife and deceased were returning in a small car from Waingaro to Glen Afton. It was raining at the time and visibility was poor. The car veered and witness tried to correct the steering. There was no response to his efforts and the car left the road and fell into a stream. The vehicle was submerged. Witness said he got clear quickly end extricated his wife. He returned to the car to release deceased, but was unable to find him, although he thought he felt his*body brush past him. Constables P. Clemence and G. F. Atkins said that they searched the stream throughout yesterday and ultimately found the body 50ft from the scene of the accident.
