SUBSTANTIAL GIFTS.
Friends Of Britain Overseas Help War Funds. MORE DONATIONS RECEIVED. (Reed, noon.) RUGBY, Aug. 12. Several more donations to Britain's war effort have been reported. A further donation of £147,000 has been received from the "Speed the 'Pl>nes Fund"* through the South African Governor-General's fund. The Madras Governor's fund for the purchase of aircraft amounts to £33,704. The Legislative Council of ('ranada has granted £10,000. towards Britain's war effort. The Trinidad and Tobago branch of the British Red Cross has cabled a further £15.000 to London headquarters, raising the colony's contributions to the oversea* fund to £29.000. Liberal gifts come from foreign communities in Trinidad and Tobago.
