ADVICE TO FARMERS.

SKIRT ALL NEW WOOL. MAY MEAN l"/ 2 D PER LB MORE. CRUTCHIXGS APPRAISAL HELD. Urgent advice to growers to skirt their new season's wool, that is, to cut the pieces off it, was given this morning by Mr. B. J. Marquet, chairman of the Auckland Woolbrokers' Association, in commenting on the appraisement of crutohings and oddments, which was begun at the Parnell stores to-day. "The fact that the wool is skirted may make as great a difference as l%d a lb," h-e added, "and the place to do it is in the sheds, as the wool comes off the sheep—not in the Btores." An anticipated shortage of labour in the stores next Season, he said, would prohibit the possibility of skirting the wool in the stores— hence his advice to farmers.

Altogether about 4000 bales were being appraised, and the appraiememt would finish fco-morrow. Of the amount the great bulk was of crutohings and oddments. Only a few bales of new season's wool was included. While unable to make any detailed comment on the new season's wool as yet, Mr. Marquet said that the way the wool at present being examined at the stores was opening up augured well for the new clip. Six appraisers are in Auckland from Wellington for the task, and the prompt date will ibe 14 days from to-morrow, that is, on August 28. The usual conditions will apply—s per cent of the return will be held back as a suspense account to allow for any adjustments which may be necessary later.
