HUMBER "TEN."
MANY IMPROVEMENTS. A new model, the Humber Ten, incorporating many improvements, is now beyig marketed. The leading features of the new car are: Integral construction of the steel body and frame, into which the mechanical components are assembled from beneath, reduced weight resulting in increased performance and economy, increased body room and doubled luggage accommodation. This construction also gives the car great stiffness to deal with rough roads and also eliminates any troubles with body squeaks. • The driving seat is adjustable for height as well as leg reach. Twelve ii.stead of six-volt electrical equipment is supplied, together with an improved engine, suspension, ventilation, hand brake, steering wheel and interior finish. The car creates a very favourable impression by its appearance. The front has been made even more attractive with the long tapered bonnet, graceful rounded nose anc. deeper radiator grille. The front wings are more curved, and the headlamps are mounted flush, on the wings. The bonnet is of one-piece desijm, hinged along the lines of the scuttle, and carries the grille as an integral part. Sweeping out from the tail is the cover of a luggage boot which provides remarkable carrying capacity for a light car, 11 £ cubic feet. This large space has been ingeniously contrived, in as much . ; the lid of the boot is deeply domed and forms a watertight cover "over the luggage. It open* upward and is balanced, while a lip round the outer edge makes a watertight seat on rubber
against a water gutter runnisg all round the orifice in the back panel of the body. The spare wheel is housed in a separate, compartment, where there is also a felt-lined recess for tools. The springing is by long semi-elliptic springs. The rear springs are interesting, for they provide an automatic variation to load and road surface. The engine has been improved in various ways. The cylinder block has been stiffened and head redesigned to permit increased compression. The new features have greatlv improved the petrol economy and general appearane. The new car is available in three moaels— touring saloon, special touring saloon, de luxe saloon.
