Attractive Wedding.
KANE—DAVOREN. FRENCH CLOQUE SILK. St. Stephen's Presbyterian Church. Ponsonby, was the setting for a charming wedding on Saturday evening, when Mis* Phyllis Loloma Davoren. onlv daughter of Mr. J. R. Davoren and the late Mrs. Davoren. of Ponsonby. wa* married to Mr. Joseph Nesbitt" Kane, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Kane, of Gisborne. The Rev. W. R. Milne performed the ceremony. A feature of the decorations in the church, which had been carried out by Mrs. W. R. Strong, a cousin of the bride, were the horseshoes of heather placed at the guests' [tews. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a lovely gown of French cloque silk, brocaded in a rose design. The. bodice was made with a Peter Pan collar and long, tight-lilting sleeves coming to a point over the wrist, and it was finished with a row of tiny self-material buttons down the front. The many-gored skirt was scalloped at the waist and the train, which was trimmed with roule. broadened out with the same shell 'fleet. A topknot of Marguerite daisies and maidenhair fern caught the white tulle veil to the head, and the bride, tarried a sheaf of white roses, carnations and Marguerite daisies. Period frocks were worn by th« two bridesmaids, Miss Audrey " Campbell (chief) and Mis* Billie Ronson. Miss Campbell wore cyclamen watered moire, silk, with birds in a violet shade appliqued on to the skirt, while Miss Ronson's frock was of nil green, with appliqned birds of jade. The corsages were tucked to form a point back and front. Coronets of cyclamen and violets were worn, and the bridesmaids carried crescent-shaped bouquets to match. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Alec Kane as best mat, and Mr. Jack Birch as groomsman. During the signin« of the registrar Mr. Leonard Grace sang "Oh, Promise Me.'' A charming gesture at the conclusion of the ceremony was the placing of a horseshoe at the church step by Miss Cherry Kane, sister-in-law of the. bride, the latter stepping over it as she left the church. It was then presented to her by Master Travels Southwell. A reception was held at Point Erin Kiosk, Mrs. Hilton Pearce, aunt of the bride, acting as hostess. She wore a graceful gown of violet crepe marlina and carried a lavender and violet bouquet. Mrs. Kane, mother of the. bridegroom, was in clove lace and her bouquet was to tone.
