NEW KIWI CLUB.
I OPENING IN CAIRO. FACILITIES FOR N.Z. TROOPS. (N.Z. Official News Service.) CAIRO, August 12. A further practical illustration of the interest of the British community here in the welfare of New Zea landers was given yesterday in the opening of a new social centre, which will primarily benefit convalescent members of the First Echelon. The centre is named the Kiwi. Club, and was established by the British Red Cross Society at the instigation of its president, Lady Lamp: 11, wife of the British Ambassador. Provision is made for splendid reading, writing, games and refreshment facilities. The club was formally o|M?ned in the presence of many distinguished visitors by Ladv Lampson, who said she felt that thousands of Xew Zealand women would give anything to be in her place and able to spend a few quiet minutes with the ) en. She added: "I am only deputising for the wives, sisters, daughters and sweethearts when I say, 'Welcome and good luck.' " Brigadier Puttiek paid a tribute to the generosity and kindness extended everywhere by British residents and the assistance given to Xew Zealanders by British rejriments. Lady Lampson spent much time among the convalescents .who attended, and later visited other patients.
