BATTLES IN THE SKY. Exciting Aerial Duel Over England. United Press Association.—Copyright. (Received 2 p.m.) LONDON", August 6. An Air Ministry communique states that the Royal Air Force last night bombed objectives in Germany and Holland, including Wismar, Kiel, Hamburg and Hamm, and also aerodromes at Schiphol and Borkum. All the raiders returned safely. A Spitfire and a German 'plane were engaged in a duel over a north-eastern coastal town this afternoon. The Spitfire, after a terrific powerdive attacked the enemy, which jettisoned its bombs and made off towards the coast pursued by the Spitfire. Three high explosive and 25 incendiary bombs were dropped. There were no casualties. A British oilicial wireless message says a communique issued by the Air Ministry and the Ministry of Home Security states: —"During last night enemy aircraft dropped a small number of lrombs in a few districts in south-east England. There was no damage or casualties caused. "Yesterday afternoon an K.A.F. machine shot down an enemy fighter over the English Channel. This made a total of four enemy fighters destroyed $ yesterday's engagements J.', - - ; An Air Ministry communique states that tihis morning British fighters intercepted an enemy bomber off the east coast of England' and shot it down into the sea. A Berlin communique states:—"During frequent air fights over the Channel yesterday a German reconnaissance 'plane shot down two British fighters of the latest type. Our fighters brought down six other British fighters. Our 'planes attacked several English ports last night. "British 'planes raided north-western Germany in the night. Damage was small and there were no deaths."
