ARANDORA STAR'S EQUIPMENT • British Official Wireless. (Received 1.30 p.m.) RUGBY, August 6. Mr. R. H. Cross, Minister of Shipping, in the House of Commons, denied that the Arandora Star had been insufficiently equipped with life-saving apparatus. % He said, there were lifeboats for 750 and buoyant apparatus or rafts for 1088, arrainst a total of 15G9 persons on board. There* were also 2000 life jackets. - f The Arandora Star was torpedoed by a' German submarine after leaving Britain en route to Canada, with a large number of German and Italian internees. There was heavy loee of life.
