UNUSUAL SEASON.
RAIN NEEDED FOR DAIRYING, POSITION -IN THE MANAWATU. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON NORTH, this day. Manawatu is experiencing a very' unusual season. The May, June and July rainfall was about half last year's, and because there was less than an inch last month, as against over four inches in July last year, water is being carted by dairy companies to a( least two areas—Tokomaru and Rongotea. The Bulls,. Kairanga and Whakarongo areas are reported to be nearing the same position. Cold nights and brilliant, sunny days provide better weather than even thv.t experienced over much of last summer. Lambing conditions are perfect, but rain is needed for dairying herds.
