BROADCASTING VOTE
LICENSE FEE.
ANNUAL PROTEST.
DEBATE IN HOUSE.
WAR PENSIONS BILL. GENERAL COMMENDATION. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. Another full day was spent in the House of Representatives yesterday, when, in addition to passing two bills dealing with war |«ensions, members staged a lengthy debate on the broadcasting vote and the annual report. Discussion on war pensions bills was notable for the general commendation expressed on the purposes for which the measures were introduced. The debate on the broadcasting accounts followed fairly well defined lines, with the Opposition making its annual protest against the amount of license fee and also having something to say about the use of broadcasting services for Government propaganda. In the evening two bills were introduced and read a first time, one being of considerable importance to insurance companies and the other dealing with minor amendments to the Rural Housing Act. Before the House adjourned at 11.15. after the Prime Minister had found it necessary to apply the closure to the broadcasting debate, Mr. Fraser indicated that the House would be adjourned for three weeks as from tonight, subject to beinjr called together beforehand, should circumstances warrant such a course.
