TROOPS' LEAVE.

STARTS TO-MORROW.

TEN DAYS AT HOME.

BACK TO CAMP BY AUGUST 14.

Men in the Third Echelon of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, who ire at present in camp at Papakura, Ngaruawahia, Trentham and Buruham will begin a period of leave either to-morrow or Friday, depending on the distance to be travelled from the camps. This announcement was made early this afternoon by headquarters of the Northern Military District. No details were then known regarding the times of arrival in the city.

The announcement does not concern the Territorial Forces at present in camp, but only those who have enlisted for overseas service. They will leave camp on August 1 or 2 and will return to camp by August 14.

The Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, said to-day that the men would not all go out of camp on the same day. It might take a couple of days to get them all away. The period of leave would be approximately eleven days, and all the men would have to be back in camp by August 14. The Minister added that in addition to the members of the Third Echelon, special units, such as the Forestry and Railway Companies, which had enlisted for overseas, would also go on leave as from to-morrow.
