FURTHER BLOWS.
FROM R.A.F. HAMMER. Canal, Barges, Docks And 'Dromes Bombed. SUPPLY SHIPS DAMAGED. United Press Association.—Copyrigkt. (Received 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, July 28. The Air Ministry announces that the Royal Air Force yesterday and last night bombed the Xordsee Canal in Holland, barges at Stavoren, oil depots at Hamburg and Amsterdam, docks and wharves at Wilhelmshaven and Bremen, and eight enemy aerodromes in Holland and Germany. All the British 'planes returned.
A 'British official wireles3 message gives details of attacks on German eupply ships. It states that Americanbuilt Hudso-i aircraft of the Coastal Command severely damaged two supply ships last night and bombed others. A Messerschmitt '--which attempted to interfere was shot down.
The first attack was made off the Norwegian coast by a pilot who comes from Stellarton, Xova Scotia. The Hudeon was patrolling near Stavanger when the pilot saw in the distance a German supply ship. He dired on it and dropped hie bombs.
The pilot said: "As we turned away after our dive, three Messerschmitts 109 came for us, snd a few of their shots went into our tail and damag-ed the starboard rudder.
"I turned to allow rny rear gunner to pet one Meseerschmitt into his sights. The. Messerschmitt fell away out of control and crashed into the sea. We were in the clouds before the other two enemy machines had time to open their attack." An hour later, off the Dutch coast, another Hudson saw three armed supply ships. He scored a direct hit on the stern of one with a heavy bnmb and the ship api>oarcd To lx> Miikin;*.
