MILK ZONING.
The Auckland Metropolitan Mflk • Council has given the public a glowing account of the large saving per annum in petrol which will come about bv the introduction of zoning. Might I ask where this saving is coming from! Xot v from the small vendor, who at considerable cost has alreadv consolidated his round and worked it up into an economic round. Many of these small vendors, when zoned, will save less than one mile in running per day, about two gallons of benzine per month. To effect thfe saving they "are to suffer a reduction of over £2 per week in their earninss. At a time like this when running costs and living costs are steadily increasing, is such a cut justified? "it is time .the Milk Council put its own house in order. Has its staff received any redaction in its salaries, or has it reduced its working costs? On the contrary, the staff's salaries have increased, and the council's expenses have also increased. So nvach so that it is costing the public of Auckland many thousands of pounds per year to keep this council going. JUSTICE. — 1
