AWARDED THE M.B.E.

LIEUTENANT FROM WANGANUI

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WANG ANUI, Thilrsday.

Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Larsen, Foster's Hotel, Wanganui, have received advice that their son, Lieutenant Harold Larsen, has been awarded the M.B.E. for distinguished national service.

Lieutenant Larsen, who is aQ.nl 26.| was born in Wanganui, and was educated at Auckland Grammar School and Auckland University College, where he obtained the degree of Master of Arts and Master of Commerce, witn first-class honours in each. He left NewZealand in November, 1938, to continue his studies, and on arrival in England enlisted in the Navy. After taking a special course he gained the Beard of Trade deep-sea master's certificate. Or. the outbreak of war he was called up and has been engaged on special service.
