STREET NAMES.
ALTERATIONS MADE.
Alterations to a number of street names was decided upon by the City Council, the changes being: Lock Street, Remuera, to Loch Street; Cheeseman Street, l'onsonby, to Cameron Street; Von Tempsky Street, Parnell, to Corunna Avenue; Volkner Avenue, Remuera, to St. Vincent Avenue; John Gully Street, Fonsonby, to Margaret Street; Allenwood Street (formerly Allenby Street), to Xarvik Street; Hood Street (formerly Halsey Street), to Dunkirk Street; Drummond Street (formerly Jellicoe Street), to Edgar Kain Street. In the case of newly formed portions of streets, it was decided that the existing names should remain, and at Orakei ten Maori names have been chosen for new streets.
A suggestion by the Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis, that the name '"Cheeseman" shottld be given on a subsequent occasion to a street, was approved.
D(\ R. Cr. McElroy explained th«t some changes had been necessary to avoid duplication, and the name "Toolcy" had been asked for bv the Harbour Board.
