PEAK LOADING.

TRAMWAYS PROBLEM.

CONFERENCE CALLED.

In an endeavour to find a solution ot the peak-loading problem, the Auckland Transport Board has called a conference, which will be held at the Town Hall next Tuesday morning. Representatives of the Employers' Federation. Manufacturers' Association, Chamber of Commerce, representatives of various Government Departments and other interests will be present.

A report will be presented to the conference by the engineer and manager of the board, Mr. A. E. Ford, who,"in a recent report to the board, pointed out the necessity for reorganising dailv jiours of work in various classes of industry, to enable the peak-loading on trams in the mornings and evenings to be more economically spread.

When the board discussed the report a _ recei 't meeting, the chairman, Mr W. H. Ragle, stated that it was just possible to cope with the morning traffic at present, but the object of the board was to get all workers home as soon as possible. Everv available tram was the peak-hour in the evening, and it was at this period that there was the greatest need for improvement. It was considered that the present peak would to a large extent right itself if changes suggested could be brought into operation.
