RAIDS ON SHIPPING
German bombers twice raided shipping off the south-east coast. One bomber was shot down while trying to give a small boat, armed with an anti-aircraft gun, a severe dose of bombs.
The R.A.F. shot down five German 'planes in a series :>f engagements off the south-east coast this afternoon. Fighters shot down four and anti-aircraft guns one.
Anti-aircraft guns shot down a bomber near the north-west coast this morning. Another was shot down in the sea off
the south-east coast when attacking shipping.
Enemy 'planes bombed a town in south-east England this afternoon. Slight damage was done and there were some casualties.
'Planes earlier dropped bombs on south-west Scotland. Little damage was done and no one was seriously hurt.
The R.A.F. shot down an enemy 'plane during the day in south-west England. One German was killed, one injured and two taken prisoner.
