TRADE DISPUTES.
.British Arbitration Tribunal ~ Established. 3EGULATING SETTLEMENTS. r. British Offlc-ini Wireless. ~ (Received 2 p.m.) S RUGBY, July 21. ~ After consultation with the National Government Advisory Council, which consists of representatives of the British Employers' Confederation and the Trades Union General Council, the Minister of Labour, Mr. Ernest Bevin, made jrn order regulating the settlement of trade, disputes. While voluntary joint arrangement* for dealing with disputes are retained, a national arbitration tribunal has been net up, to which trade disputes, reported to the Minister and not otherwise settled, will be referred.
Strikes and lockouts are prohibited unlesn the matter lias been reported to tbe Minister and 21 days elapse without the dispute being referred by him to the tribunal for settlement. The order also pro ides * "the observance of recognised terms and conditions of employment," """ the tribunal will have power to der->e and enforce them.
