SOLDIER CHARGED.

DESERTION ALLEGED.

COURT-MARTIAL HELD

A second district court-martial eat at Xorth Head late yesterday afternoon to hear a charge against a member of the Royal New Zealand Artillery. The accused, Gunner R. Guthrie, was charged with desertion, in that he absented himself without leave from a coastal defence station from April 11 until apprehended on July G. . The president of the Court was Major A. C. W. Mantell-Harding, -and the members were Captain.* B. R. Winstone and J. R. Bongard. Lieutenant G. Moore was prosecutor and Lieutenant C. C. Duigan was prisoner's friend. The finding of the Court on this charge and one of alleged desertion preferred against Gunner T. Fry earlier in the day will be promulgated later after being confirmed.
