(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
CHKISTCHURCH, Friday.
, Appreciation of a message conveying greetings from the 6000 citizens and Tetumed soldiers who attended the recent "win the war dedication rally" in Christchurch has been received from Major-General B. C. Freyberg, V.G., general officer commanding the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. The following is the text of the cablegram sent by Mr. D. W. Russell, president of the Christchurch'Returned Soldiers* Association: "A large and representative gathering of 6000 citizens and returned soldiers of Christchurch, organised by the Returned Soldiers' Association, on Sunday, June 30, dedicated themselves to do everything possible to further the New Zealand war effort, and extended greetings to all NewZealand troops overseas." The reply from Major-General Freyberg reads: "Your message reached us here in the throes of preparations to deal with a threat to this country. The men are well and in great heart, and are greatly touched by the inspiring message from the large gathering of returned soldiers and citizens of Christchurch. Will you thank them on behalf of all ranks of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force."
