BANK OF ENGLAND PROFITS.

I A general court of the governor and company of the Bank of England was held on March 21 at the head office of the bank, the governor, Mr. Montagu Nonnan, presiding. The governor said the profits of the half year ended February 29 last, after making provision for all contingencies, amounted to £502.897 (against £633.101 for the corresponding period of 1938-39); the amount of the "rest" on that day was £3,590,456, and after providing for a dividend of 6 per cent, less income tax, the "rest" would be £3,022,889. The court oi directors therefore proposed that a half year's dividend of interest and profits be made on April 5 next of 6 per cent, less income tax (unchanged). The proposal was agreed to. '
