EMERGENCY PRECAUTIONS. CONFERENCE AT KAITAIA. , (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) KAITAIA, this day. At a conference held in the Mangonui County Council Chambers, Kaitaia, yesterday the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Tarry, met representatives from the Mangonui, Whangaroa and Hokianga County Councils, and the Kaitaia, Kohukohu and Ea-.vene Town Boards for the purpose of discussing emergency precautions organisation in the districts under their jurisdiction. Mr. Parry was accompanied by Mr. C. W. Boswell. M.P. for the Bay of Islands, and Mr. R. J. Berder, chief officer of his Department. Mr. C. J. E. Barriball, chairman of the Mangonui County Council, presided. The representatives of the various districts informed the Minister of the steps they had taken to work out a scheme of defence. It was decided that all the districts represented should form a combined committee with headquarters in Kaitaia for the co-ordination of the whole area. The Ministerial party left Kaitaia at the close of the meeting.
