ON WAR SERVICE.
AUCKLANDER MISSING. SOX OF BAKERS' SECRETARY. Advice has been received by Mr. E. J. Watson, of Great North Road, and secretary of the Auckland Bakers and Pastrycooks' Union, that his eon, Joseph William Watson, is missing on war service. The advice has come to Mr. Watson by cable from the Registrar of Seamen, London, who expressed deep regret at the information he had to impart, and added that a letter would follow the cable. The missing man is 28 years of age, and went to England twelve months ago as a baker on an overseas vessel. He was serving on the South American run when tli e war broke out, and was on the lonic Star, which was wrecked near Liverpool last October. He then went to London and joined up with the Royal Auxiliary Fleet, in which he continued to serve as a baker. Mr. Watson junior is a single man. He was born in Auckland, and was educated at.the Grafton School 'and Seddon Memorial Technical College.
