RECENT NAVAL ACTIONS. British' Official Wireless. (Received 0.30 a.m.) V ■ RUGBY, July 7. The situation in which Britain found herself after . the recent' German and Italian armistico with France bears striking resemblance on the events of 1801 and 1807, and the battle of Copenhagen to prevent the Danish fleets pass-, ing into Napoleon's hands. No doubt German propagandists will take the line that the battles of Copenhagen and Oran are identical, whereas in inter- ' national law the circumstances in which the battles of Copenhagen and Oran were fought are entirely, different. While the Danish Fleet was neutral, tiio French Fleet had already passed i into the control of Germany in accordance with the terms of an armistice ' signed by the. Petain Government. The battle of Oran, however distasteful, has been acclaimed by the whole British Empire as the only possible solution of a very painful problem. It has also been applauded throughout America as proof that the British Navy has shown itself to be an effective machine upon which Britain relies to counteract Germany's bid for world domination. i
