ESCAPE FROM NAZIS.
FORMER N.Z. RESIDENTS. CHANNEL ISLAND EVACUATION. (From Our Own Correspondent.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Sunday. . A former Taranaki family was among tlio civilian population evacuated from tlio Channel Islands before the Nazi occupation of the territory, the first British soil to pass into German hands. ; They were Mi', and Mrs. E. Luxon, St. Heiier, Jersey, and some of their children. Mrs. Luxon has many relatives in Taranttki.
• Mr. Luxon came to Ne.w Zealand before tlio Great War. Mrs. Luxon is a daughter of Mr. 11. Buckle, of New Plymouth, and a. sister of Mrs. B. I'ascoe, Mrs. n. Cloland, New Plymouth, and -Mrs. T. Skegedin, Opunake. . Seventeen years ago they returned to Jersey, where slr. Luxton's father was a considerable landowner. Mr. Luxon followed tile trade of cabinetmaker.
■ Cabled advice which announced their safe .arrival indicated that Mrs. Luxon had to close her house and Mr. Luxon liis business. They made their escape with only a few of their possessions. ■ Tivo of the older eons served with the British Expeditionary Force in France,
