The fimes" Istanbul correspondent says reports from Syria reveal that the Syrians are restless as a result of France's capitulation. The pan-Arab movement seems to have received a fresh impetus. The Syrians are not amenable to exchange French control for that of any other Power. The situation is causing concern in Turkish circles.
A message from Bagdad says the Foreign Minister of Iraq, M. Nuri, discussing recent conferences at Ankara, said that Turkey and Iraq believed that Syria should have complete independence. Syrians should have the right to make a final decision.
The Berlin radio stated that further skirmishes were progressing in Svria between French and Polish units, 'the latter of whom were attempting to break out in order to join the British forces in Palestine.
The British United Press Beirut correspondent has learned that the French authorities in Syria have reaffirmed their determination to defend Syria against foreign encroachmeuts.
A message from Istanbul says BritishTurkish conversations are proceeding with reference to Svria.
The oil pipeline ending at Tripoli is being diverted to HaifaT on the coast of Palestine, under an agreement between tlio Mosul Petroleum Company and Iraq.
Sheik Maraghi, spiritual leader of tho Egyptian Moslems, passionately appealed for tho recognition of Cairo as a sacred city immune from attack, says a Cairo message. He added that "if bombed, the anger of the whole Moslem world would be aroused.
