BRITAIN'S WOMEN.
CALM IN FACE OF PERIL.
The calm courage and high morale of the women of Britain in the face of peril ie well illustrated by a letter, typical of scores of others, received to-day by Mr. A. K. Wood, of Birkenhead, "from !ii* daughter, who livee at Kingston-on-Thames, a few miles west of London. She. writes: "Roderick (her husband I went to-day to join his unit at Chester, and so I am lonely this evening, but I am going to be very brave, because Roddy must do his duty, and we shall be very proud of him. Personal feelings must be put aside, for what would our lives be worth without freedom—fancy England being over-run by Nazis—one cannot imagine it, nor will it be so. And I know each will do his job well and j faithfully. Aβ we passed through Waterloo Station this morning, the whole of that mijhty station was just a seething mass of men in full battle kit, embarking for the front, and I suppose that goes on every day. Every day we expect there will be air raids now that Hitler hae occupied Holland, but they have not come yet. When I look out on to my peaceful garden on this lovely summer evening I wonder if it will ever be wrecked by the shattering explosion of bombs, as many gardens in Belgium and France are being "at this moment. But no, surely Hitlei'and his Huns will be stayed before he can get to destroy our happy island home. , '
