UNUSUAL THEME.
CIVICS " PRIMROSE PATH."
An appealing theme is unfolded in the film "Primrose Path," which to-day began its Auckland season at the Civic Theatre with good attendances. Versatile Ginger Rogers handles the leading role, and Joel McCrea is cast excellently as the principal male player. The story is an unusual one, being a study of life on an American waterfront. Miss Rogers is seen as the daughter of a typical waterside family, and the tale of her struggles is an engrossing one.
Produced by the noted Gregory La Cava, who also was a collaborated on the writing side, "Primrose Path" is perfectly directed, and it is also notable for the performance of Marjorie Kambeau, as Miss Rogers' dissolute mother. When the year's cinema drama comes under review "Primrose Path" will be certain of a high ranking.
On the Civic's supporting bill is an amusine Walt Disney piece entitled "Donald's Cousin Gus."
