ESCAPE PREVENTED.
PRISONER'S TERM INCREASED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. "You have already been given six months to punish you for the same I offence, so we will make it 12 this ! time," said Mr. E. C. Levvey, S.M., to ! Jeoffrey Francis Evans Turner, who was i charged with an attempted escape from 1 prison. ' The prison superintendent. Mr. .Spittal, said that Turner several times had tried to escape. An instrument had ■ been discovered in his cell, and one bar j was found to be almost severed. He had • escaped from Invereargill on two 1 occasions, and been given five years in Borstal with an additional year for the next escape. To-day's sentence is to be concurrent with that he is already serving.
