PRIME MINISTER'S REGRET.
REFERENCE IN PARLIAMENT. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) "WELLINGTON", this day. Further reference to the strike by the miners at three State coalmines on the Weft Coast was made in the House of Representatives last night by the Prime Minister. When replying to an interjection, Mr. Fraser said he believed that a complete and very bad mistake had been made there. "I believe that the men have taken up the wrong attitude," Mr. Fraser continued. "I have said that, but, having said that, it is the Government's responsibility to enforce law end I don't think it is a good thing at this time to attack publicly any section of the community when what we want ia harmony, unity and solidarity in overcoming , anv difficulties and disabilities." Mr. Bodkin (Opposition, Central. Otago): You don't want to show- weakness, though. Mr. Fraser said he cordially agreed. He added that he knew many of the people in the Itunanga district and there were no more loyal citizens. He hoped that common sense would prevail.
