AERODROMES BOMBED.

British Raids From Coast To

Rhine.

i.«.<. -OSIONB ON CANAL

British Official Wireless. (Received 1.30 p.m.)

RUGBY, July 3

An Air Ministry communique states that R.A.F. bombere continued their attacks on Tuesday night on targets, including aerodromes in Denmark and Belgium, communications in the Ruhr and Westphalia, also objectives at Hamburg and .Dortmund, and the docks at Zeebrugge. All the aircraft returned safely.

Coastal Command aircraft to-day bombed enemy bases at Texel and Ymuiden, in Holland, in the course of which they shot down an enemy fighter without loss.

One aircraft failed to return from reconnaissance yesterday.

Aircraft of the Coastal Command and the Fleet Air Arm, attacking in waves, bombed aerodromes and barges on a canal at Rotterdam early yesterday morning. A direct hit on an ammunition barge produced a tremendous explosion.

The aircraft found broken cloud when they arrived over Rotterdam. It suited them admirably, screening them from ground defences and from enemy fighters. They were able to do their bombing through clear patches and immediately take cover again.

Through the gaps the'pilots could see massed searchlights. They bombed them and the lights went out. Other lights showed the position of the aerodrome, on which more salvos fell.

The pilot of a naval aircraft attacked barges in a river. After one of his salvos there was an explosion so great that he could eee the flash through the dense clouds in which he waa flying. Many fires were burning on the ground when the aircraft set their course for home.
