It is well known that tfae Railways Department has ran some of its shorter services without petrol, by the n-se of producer gas, and the system has been well tried out in Australia on longer runs. Seeing that the service under death sentence has proved so profitable, it would probably be able, if permitted, to carry on. If the Department finds that it can continue the service while obeying the command to discontinue the use of petrol it will have an undeniable case for a withdrawal of the cancellation of the order.
