LOWER RATES.

POSITION AT HAMILTON. (From Our Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Wednesday. A decision to reduce the general rates in Hamilton for the current year by id in the £ by reducing the proposed expenditure on street improvements and maintenance from £14,708 to £12,248 was made by the Hamilton Borough Council this evening. The following rates, including special and general, were agreed to: Hamilton, 8.345 din the £; Claudelands, 8.240 d; Frankton, 9.245 d; Maeroa, 11.57 d; Richmond, 10.125 d. A meeting to strike the rates will be held on July 24. The rates will foe payable on August 14.
