BEEF STEADY ON LAST WEEK.

SATISFACTORY SHEEP DEMAND

Beef, wiiioh hae risen about 3/ per 1001b at the Weetfield sales in the past three weeks, -,v;ie about the eame ae last week at the sale yesterday. For an extra large yarding of calves values eased, but prices for pigs, lamfce and sheep were much tlie same.

Cows and heifers came forward in full average numbers and si>ld readily at full late quotations. Extra choice ox to 39/ per 1001b; choice and'prime, 36/ to 38/; secondary and plain, 32/ to 35/; extra prime young cow and heifer, 32/ to 36/; choice and prime, 29/ to 31/; ordinary cow beef, 25/ to 28/. Extra heavy prime steers, £15 to £15 17/6; heavy, £13 10/ to £14 10/; lighter, £12 5/ to £13; light, £11 10/ to £12; small and unfinished, £7 to £10 15/; extra heavy prime young cows and heifere, £10 to £13 7/6; heavy, £8 10/ to £9 10/; lighter, £7 5/ to £7 8/; other killable cows, £5 5/ to £6 1.5/. Sheep.—A full entry sold freely. Wethers realised late rates, while ewes sold at firm values. Extra heavy prime wethers, £1 16/ to £1 17/; heavy, £1 14/ to £1 15/; medium, £1 11/6 to £1 13/; light, £1 8/ to £1 10/r plain and unfinished, £1 4/ to £1 6/6; extra heavy prime young and ! maiden ewes. £ 1 6/ to £ 1 7/; heavy, £ 1 3/6 to £1 4/6; lighter, £1 to £1 2/6; plain and aged ewee, 17/ to 19/; other I ewes, 5/ to 15/6.

Lambe.—Lambe were penned in average numbers. Competition was good and a eteady sale resulted at late rates. Extra heavy prime lambe. £1 10/9 to £1 12/3; faeasy, £1 &/; medium. £1 4/6 to £1 6/; lighter, £1 2/ to £1 4/; liaht, £1 to £1 1/6; small and plain, 14/ to 17/6; cull lambe, 8/ to 10/. Calves.—-There was an extra heavy yarding, the quality generally being first-class. Bidding was steady throughout, but values dropped considerably on last week's high quotations. Runners. £6 10/ to £9 7/; heavy vealere, £4 12/ to £5 10/; medium, £3 12/ to £4 8/; light, £3 to £3 10/; email, £2 6/ to £2 18/; unfinished and bucket fed, £1 to £1 15/; bobby end rough calves, 8/ to 18/. Pige.—There waa again a email offering. Bidding waa steady for baconevs and spirited for porkers. Values for all classes were fully firm. Choppers, £3 5/ to £4 14/; heavy baconere, £4 9/ to £4 15/: medium, £3 16/ to £4 4/; light. £3 9/ to £3 13/; heavy porkers, £3 6/ to £3 11/; medium, £2 15/ to £2 19/: light, £2 6/ to £2 11/; small and unfinished, £1 16/ to £2 2/; Ptoree, £1 8/ to £1 15/; slips, £1 13/ to £1 II; weaners, 16/ to £1 2/.
