YOUNG MINER INJURED.

HAMILTON, this day

Buried by a fall of coal at the Renown mine. Huntly. to-day. Thomas McEwen, a single man. aged 23. suffered concussion, internal injuries and an injury to the neck.

At the time he was working in a pillar beside his step-father. Mr. W. Donaldson. There were several men in the same section and they extricated him swiftly. Meanwhile, "both ambulance and doctor had been summoned and they were waiting at the pit-head when Mr. McEwen was carried out.

He was taken to the Waikato Hospital, where his condition is reported to be critical.
