PASSENGERS FOR ENGLAND. ONLY IN EXCEPTIONAL CASES. (By Telegraph—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON. Tuesday. Only in exceptional circumstances will permits to lea\e New Zealand be issued i<> women to travel to England. A number of applications lias been received by the i Miienimcn; from women who originally came from Kngland and wish to return. Some young New Zealandlioni women who desire cither to make a trip to the Old Country or to settle there permanently have also applied for jK'rmit.-. The .Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. \Y, K. Parry, in an interview tonight, said that it was held by the authorities to be in the interests of the women themselves that permits to travel to Kngland at present were bein<» withheld. . "Dispatches from the Home authorities."' ..aid the .Minister, -clearly indicate that j>ermits should be granted only in exceptional or necessitous circumstance*. This rule is being closely followed with the applications that continue to come in. It is hard to disappoint the applicants, but the decision is made for their own safety. The decision to evacuate British children to the Dominions should influence women against making applications to leave New Zealand just now."
