CARE OF EVACUEES.
CHILDREN FROM BRITAIN.
PLANS FOR RECEPTION IN N.Z. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Monday. Tho organisation established by the Government and local bodies for the reception and care of evacuated British children on their arrival in New Zealand is assuming shape. Many conferences have taken place between the authorities undertaking the responsibility for carrying out the scheme, and by the time the children reach the Dominion all arrangements will have boon completed.
''Literally sheaves of applications have come from New Zealand households anxious to shelter the children," said the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, to-night. A suggestion wae received by the Minister to-day for the establishment of a fund, into which contributions could be paid, toward the purchase of comforts for the children during their residence in the Dominion. '"The suggestion came from a Wellington biiiTiMoss man, who, with his wife, settled in this city a few years ago," said Mr. Parry. "He pointed out that he and his wife, because of their ages, felt thev could not take in and properly care for one or two evacuated children" although they would very much like to do so. '• 'There are,' contiuued the writer of the letter, 'many people of the ages of ourselves who. having been born and reared in England and having eettled comfortably in the Dominion, would like to help in the practical way I have suggested.' "
The Minister said the correspondent raised a new aspect of many questions relating to the evacuated children now under the consideration of the Governinent.
